Article 3-A - SUBURBAN TOWN LAW Title 4 - TOWN DEPARTMENTS § 53-c. Terms of office. The head of a department and a deputy department head shall hold office until the first day of January next succeeding the first bi-annual town election held after his appointment, and thereafter, shall hold office for the term of two years and until his successor shall have qualified, provided, however, that the appointees to such offices shall be removable at the pleasure of the town board unless otherwise provided by local law.
REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma (GED) is required.
Enforcement of the NYS Uniform Fire Prevention & Building Codes. The purpose of this code is to provide a minimum level of protection from the hazards of fire, inadequate building construction and improper maintenance in residential and nonresidential buildings, both public and private, so as to establish uniform standards to reduce the threat to public health and safety for occupants and users of buildings. Building Codes: The enforcement of regulatory construction standards (New York State, Town, Village) that prescribe the materials and type of construction for new construction, renovation, repair and demolition.
Code Enforcement Official: Oversees and administers day-to-day operations of the Department and reviews all applications submitted to the Zoning Enforcement Department for regulatory applicabilty to the New York State Building Codes (1/1/2003) and the Town of Vienna Local Law(s) for the jurisdictional area(s) of the Town of Vienna. Issues respective Building Permits, Demolition Permits, Septic Permits (new and repair), Certificates of Occupancy/Use and Compliance Certificates. Monitors, inspects and approves construction site phases (footers, foundations, framing, plumbing, electrical, occupancy change/use, etc.) Also responsible for permitting and certifying new installations and repairs to commercial and residential septic systems.
Exemption from Zoning approval does not mean exemption from a Building Permit.
